Something a little different with this project, our good friends at Retro Amps, had assembled a telecaster they had named the Kraken! It was brought to us to have a fret level, recrown and polish, to allow an ultra low setup, along with something unique to be done to the neck, to match it to the aged body. The look was something that had been pulled from the murky depths! The photos show the work on the frets, normally this work isn't done without masking off the fretboard first, but as it was going to be aged, the board was left unprotected to wear in the board. You can see the amount of fret dust on the board, removed from the high frets. The frets were then recrowned and polished to shine.
The custom finishing work done, the neck was assembled onto the body and the guitar was setup before being ready to collect. Release the Kraken!
This 80's Japanese Tokai Springy Sound was brought into the workshop for a restoration to bring it back to original factory spec. The two photos below are from the customer, before and after the restoration.
