Here's some pictures of some recent repairs through the workshop. Some really nice guitars through the workshop this month, it's been great to work on all of them. Some of the highlights include a Fender Deluxe Power Stratocaster and a 1970's Yarai Classical. Remember we're never too busy to work on your guitar, so please get in touch to arrange us repairing/customising your instrument! We've also a great give away promotion running through December on our facebook page so it's worth checking it out! |

The pickup channel was opened up by hand using chisels, carefully checking the fitment of the pickup throughout the process. As the EQ unit being used was designed for a guitar rather than a bass, a small amount of space was left at each end of the channel to allow the adjustment of the position of the pickup. This will allow manual control of the presence of the treble/bass required by repositioning the undersaddle pickup if needed. Due to the size of the new pickup, a custom bone saddle had to be cut and shaped by hand. You can see the size difference from a regular guitar saddle in the picture showing the blank, guitar saddle then the shaped bass saddle.
From January the 1st 2018 we’re having to introduce a general price increase on our services, we’ve kept our prices locked since 2011, but sadly due to the rising costs of parts and supplies we’re having to increase our prices to match.
To give an indication, one of our most requested repairs, a standard setup is currently £35 and will be £40 after the 1st of January, the full price change list will be updated upon the change. Don’t miss the chance to book your guitar in now before the new year and you’ll miss the increase! We’ve also got a really great competition coming in December so stay tuned! Thanks for all your continued custom and Happy playing!
The finished result with the hardware reinstalled. Gold is always a very hard colour to match, but some was used around the post inserts then finished with some lacquer to blend in with the bodywork. Now with the post anchors correctly installed, the tuning instability disappeared! The cheap wiring was all removed and upgraded to CTS pots and orange drop capacitors, wired with metal braided wire, a great upgrade for the guitar.
The guitar was then treated to a full setup and new strings before it was ready for the customer to collect!
