This vintage Ovation was recently in the workshop for a top crack repair, wiring fix, setup and new nut! The customer has previously been told by numerous people that the guitar was beyond repair due to its construction! Once we’d sorted the crack and made the new bone nut, along with sorting some faulty wiring, it was setup ready for the owner to bring it out of retirement! With the crack glued down the refinishing process could begin The finished result of the crack repair below Once the top was repaired the new nut was cut and shaped from a bone blank. With the new nut made, the faulty wiring was fixed and the guitar was setup!
This lovely Vintage Epiphone by Gibson Sheraton was recently in the workshop for a mini restoration! The work involved recrowning and hand polishing the frets, sorting the wiring including a new switchcraft jacksocket, new control knobs, a hand cut custom scratchplate along with a detail clean and setup! The fingerboard was the dirtiest we’ve seen in a long time! The frets were worn from years of use. The frets are marked before the recrowning begins so the filing can be done up to the top of the frets The recrowned frets, you can see the red line which remains untouched, preserving the level of the frets. The frets were then hand polished. The original scratchplate had become warped and the customer fancied a change The original scratchplate had become warped and the customer fancied a change. We marked out the new material.
The new scratchplate next to the old one, unfortunately our half way through making photo was too blurry to use. With all the work done, the guitar was setup before being ready for the customer to collect! This cool Teebird Aerocaster, complete with a telecaster Trem King bridge tremolo, was recently in the workshop to have a new CTS volume pot fitted to solve it’s minor output issues!
This ace SG by Vintage was recently in the workshop for a new brass nut and setup!
This ace vintage Hohner Les Paul was recently in the workshop for a mini restoration! The guitar had been sat for years, the finish was dirty and dull before the clean. It was treated to a full detail clean and hand polish, a new switchcraft jacksocket and mounting plate, wiring tidy, some minor structural repairs along with a full setup to complete the work! The jacksocket plate was in such a state it disintegrated on removal! You can also see the cracks in the body through the missing binding, these guitars were made with the top shaped and stuck onto the body, giving a hollow space underneath! With this guitar the cracks were allowing the top to lift off the body! This ace Jacky Vincent signature Dean was recently in the workshop for a setup after changing string gauge!
