It's been crazy in the workshop this last month, one of the busiest months we've ever had! So many lovely guitars to mention include vintage Fender basses, a vintage 1980's Kramer, a lovely Japanese Fender Jazz Master, along with a Mandola too! If you're interested in getting your guitar/bass playing the best it can be then please get intouch and we can arrange booking you in! |

This ace Fender thinline Telecaster was brought into the work for a new nut and setup, after years of not being played! The customer mentioned when arranging booking his guitar that the nut was broken, he really wasn't kidding, it had broken in 3 separate places!
The photos above show some of the stages of making a new bone nut. As with all the nuts we hand cut, we start from a bone blank and cut and shape it down to the exact size required for the best possible fit. We use the old one as a template were possible (in this case the old one was glued back together) so the new nut retains the look of the original nut and the string spacing remains the same. Once the new nut was made, the guitar was restrung and setup to the owners playing style, then detail cleaned before being ready to collect. The picture of the lady on the bodywork is Miss Venezuela, the name of the customers old band! This cool Epiphone BlackBird Nikki Sixx Signature Bass was recently in the workshop for a setup and detail clean after years of being in storage!
This stunning Schecter with pearlescent, colour changing finish was recently brought in for a setup!
This cool LTD Stephen Carpenter signature 7 string Telecaster was recently in the workshop to have it’s wiring sorted, after it’s Bare Knuckle pickups had been badly wired in by another guitar tech!
This lovely Patrick James Eggle Faith was recently in the workshop to have it’s intermittent output sorted, a detail clean including a hand fret polish and a setup! The acoustic had been in storage for some time, and the frets had badly oxidised, as such needed a hand fret polish to bring them back to a shine, restoring the smooth feel and intonation to the frets, also removing any light fret wear at the same time. With the fretwork completed, the guitar was restrung and setup to the customers playing style before being ready to collect!
This lovely Takamine Santana signature series was recently in the workshop for a checkover and restring, too nice a guitar not to share!
This stunning custom made Ran, complete with LED fret markers, was recently in the workshop for an ultra low setup!
This ace 1980 Tokai Springy Sound was recently in the workshop for a setup and fret recrown! Brought straight over from Japan, the work was done to get the guitar to an excellent standard before being sold in the UK! Years of playing had worn dents in the frets, which affects the intonation of the strings and the tone. The frets were had filed and then polished to restore them back to a very playable condition.
The guitar was then given a full setup to get the most out of the guitar for when it's sold to it's new owner. |
