This lovely heavily modified 1980’s Ibanez AR30 was recently in the workshop for a full refret and a new hand cut bone nut! The customer has owed it since new, and over the years had customised it as his playing tastes changed. At some point he fitted a Washburn wonderbar tremolo. Through years of use the frets had worn down so flat that there was no fret height left for a recrown so it had to be refretted! |
The old frets were carefully removed and the fingerboard was prepared. The refretting was done by hand the traditional way as taught at Totnes School of Guitarmaking Once the new frets were in the frets were levelled using our two stage levelling process before being crowned and dressed. The frets on this guitar were given a 'played in' feel on the edges so the customer wouldn't feel that his guitar had changed at all. |
