The previous guitar tech had removed the active pickups from the guitar and installed the Bare Knuckle pickups and a passive wiring loom and controls at the same time. This wasn't the best of jobs, there was large amounts of excess wire squeezed into the small tele cavity. The customer was also having issues with earthing hum/buzz, this was caused by a lack of bridge earthing wire. EMG circuits do not need an earthing wire, so as factory fitted the guitar didn't have one. We had to carefully remove one of the bridge posts then drill an access hole from the post hole to the cavity to allow us to install a bridge earth wire! |
This picture shows the excess wire that was squeezed into the cavity. It was originally cable tied to keep it neat, and just about fitted. | The circuit after the rewire, all the excess wire has been removed, giving shorter signal paths, there were no longer any link joints either, improving the signal further |
