This lovely and heavily gigged Lowden acoustic was recently in the workshop for a full refret, complete with new nut! Along with the refret, it also had a nasty crack repaired, which was caused due to percussive playing style on the acoustic. As part of the repair it had a custom support plate installed inside the soundboard, to give the sound of a ‘kick drum’ when the guitar was played percussively! |
For each new bone nut we hand cut, we start with a full nut blank, which we cut down and shape to size. The fitment of the new nut is constantly checked to ensure the best possible fit to the guitar. Where possible, the original nut is used for string spacing. This preserves the feel of the guitar which the customer is used to. The end result is a hand cut bone nut which either matches or improves on the original factory nut! |
In the photos below you can see the acoustic snare plate the customer used along with 3 barrel jacksockets the customer had installed due to all the internal pickups he had fitted!
